Do text MUDs still have a place next to modern games? We're testing one in early alpha (18+)
A question first, then the disclosure.
MUDs had shared persistent worlds before graphics, and a few are still running decades on. For people who’ve played one, old or new: what kept you there? Was it the writing, the other players, or the fact that your imagination did the rendering?
Disclosure: we’re building one. Paroxysm is an 18+ multiplayer text RPG set in a world where a portal to Hell opened after the Second World War. A surveillance state now catalogues the supernatural, and you are either on its list or helping to write it. It’s early alpha, so expect rough edges. AI was used in its development.

Blunt feedback is welcome, and so are answers to the question that don’t mention us at all.
